136th Annual General Meeting – 2017
The Annual General Meeting was held at the Railway Street offices of Chadwick Lawrence on 22 November 2017. A speech was delivered on behalf of the out-going President, Sarah Cookson, who has overseen a very successful year for the Society.
The meeting saw the inauguration of the new President, Ashley Iredale of Schofield Sweeney, and Vice President, Samantha Spain of Switalskis Solicitors, take office.

Annual Dinner 2017
The Annual Law Society Dinner was held at Berties LaCachette in Elland in March 2017. The event was very well supported by a number of local firms and the guest speaker was motivational speaker Nicky Pattinson. President Sarah Cookson and Vice President Ashley Iredale also gave speeches. A charity collection for Mirfield’s Hollybank Trust on the night raised over £580. Thank you to all members who attended.

Cheese & Wine Evening 2017
In February 2017, Czerwiks of Brighouse provided an excellent selection of their cheeses and wines for members to sample. Music from James Munroe also made for a wonderful evening’s entertainment for members.

The Inaugural Round the Res Event 2017

The inaugural Round the Res event was held at Scammonden and was a huge success with 24 teams taking part. The winning runners were from Schofield Sweeney and the victorious walkers were from Simpson Wood. The Swan pub provided excellent hospitality after the event. Look out for detail of next year’s event in 2018!

Conveyancing Training – 2017
A free conveyancing training seminar was held in January 2017. Groundsure provided a presentation to members on the potential consequences of HS2. STL presented on the topic of the growing risk of Japanese Knotweed.
